Human Services Offerings
Tax Relief Program for Elderly and Totally Disabled
Seniors aged 65 and older, as well as individuals with disabilities, may qualify for a tax relief program to help reduce financial strain. The filing period runs from February 1 to May 15, 2025, and income limits apply. For more details, contact the Assessor’s Office at 860-444-5820.
Renter’s Rebate
Waterford residents 65 and older as of December 31, 2024, or those who are permanently disabled, may be eligible for a rebate to help offset rental costs. Income limits apply: $45,200 for singles and $55,100 for married couples. Appointments can be scheduled starting May 1 by calling 860-444-5848.
Farmers Market Cards
The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides individuals over 60 or those with disabilities living in congregate housing an annual benefit card for purchasing fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, eggs, and honey at authorized Connecticut farmers' markets. Cards become available after June 1, 2025. Call 860-444-5839 for more information.
Waterford Community Food Bank
Waterford residents in need can access food assistance through our client choice shopping option and monthly special food bag program. Donations are always welcome to support the community. To schedule an appointment or learn more, call 860-444-5848. The food bank is located at 200 Boston Post Road.

Medicare Counseling
Receive free, unbiased counseling on Medicare benefits from a CT Choices Certified Counselor. This service covers all parts of Medicare (A, B, C, and D), Medicare Supplement plans, and Medicare Savings Program applications. Appointments are available Wednesdays from 10 AM – 2 PM.
