Daphne Bell lives in Los Angeles and works in the movie industry. Every time she starts dating a new love interest, she receives a slip of paper with the guy’s name and a number on it. That number is the exact amount of time that the relationship will last. Julia Whelan narrates this magical realism novel where the setting is also a character. One-in-a-Million Boy by Monica Wood (2016)One in a Million

This character driven novel tells the story of 104 year-old Ona Vitkus, a Lithuanian immigrant, who befriends an 11-year-old boy scout that is sent to help her with odd jobs. The neurodivergent boy is obsessed with the Guinness Book of World Records. Together, he and Ona scheme to get her into the book. When tragedy befalls the child, his father, Quinn Porter, steps in to fulfill his son’s promise of community service visits. Available as an audiobook on Playaway and downloadable on Libby.

Why doesn’t Hollywood make more movies about musketeers? This version, starring Vincent Cassel and Eva Green, feels more authentic than previous films: 17th century France is dirty! Revival by John Fogerty (2007) Revival by John Fogerty

The seventh studio album by Fogerty released on Fantasy Records and his first release of new material in three years.  The album was nominated for Album of the Year in 2008.  Rolling Stone ranked it 12 on its list of top 50 albums of 2007 and the track, “Gunslinger,” was ranked 11 on its list of 100 best songs.


Music Legends: Van Morrison, The Early Years by Van Morrison (2004) Van Morrison

A two-disc compilation album by Van Morrison released through Brentwood Records.  The first disc contains a selection of tracks such as the classic “Brown-Eyed Girl,” as well as deep cuts from Morrison’s early career.  The second disc is a 90-minute DVD on the life and times of Van Morrison.  It’s a great look into the formative years of the popular Irish singer.


Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) Spider-man

The sequel to the wildly successful 2018 animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.  In the film, Spider-Man (Miles Morales) goes on a mission with Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy), where they encounter many other Spider-Men from across the multiverse.  With stunning visuals just like its predecessor, the film is a fast-paced adventure for people of all ages.
